West Hills Remodel

A mid-century ranch house with views to mount hood had great bones. The exterior was nicely detailed and in great shape and would mainly be kept as built. The interior was another story. The existing plan was a maze of hallways, dark rooms and low ceilings. Everything was out of date and in need of refreshing.

The new owner wanted to reimagine the interior as an open/light filled oasis. They wanted lots of space to display their extensive art collection.

The interior was mostly gutted with only major structural walls remaining. The main wallway between the entry and living space was removed as were the ceiling joists in the living room.

The living room is the stra of the show with new vaulted ceiling with skylights, custom fir built-in casework, white oak floor and basalt tile fireplace surround.

The rest of the house has been renovated and updated as well.

The new interior is contemporary with respect payed to the midcentury vintage of the home.
