SW Mid-Century Modern Addition

Built in 1968, this 2,234 square foot modern home is an interesting example of the late mid-century movement. The home is within the first mid-century modern district in Oregon.
Any changes to the existing homes need to go through design review and meet particular standards.
The owner wanted to add a mother-in-law suite to the home for visiting friends and relatives.
We studied a few different options for the location of the new suite and decided that placing addition on top of the existing garage made the most design sense. The design passed the historic review and is a welcome addition for the family and the neighborhood.
